Ribbon & Reply
Version 2026-09-draft-2

Designer agreement

Draft for review. The final version will be reviewed by an attorney before launch.

Your designs stay yours

  • You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give Ribbon & Reply a non-exclusive license to show your designs on the site and in marketing, to let hosts personalize and send them, and to create the print file each paying host receives. You can keep selling the same designs anywhere else.
  • If you remove a design, it leaves the catalog right away. Hosts who already bought it can keep using their invitation.

What you promise about every design

  • You created the artwork yourself, or you hold a license that allows it to be used in products sold to customers, including digital invitations.
  • Any wording a host can edit is set up in our font library, which is fully licensed for commercial use. Lettering that is part of your artwork uses a font you made or one you hold a commercial license for. A personal-use font is not allowed, even when it has been turned into outlines or an image.
  • Your design contains no one else’s trademarks, logos, brand names, licensed characters, celebrity names or likenesses, sports teams, or artwork copied from anyone else.
  • You list any outside art, photos or fonts you used when you submit, and you can show the license if we ask.
  • If you used AI tools to make any part of the artwork, you say so when you submit.

How you get paid

  • You earn 40% of every order that uses your design, and never less than $5.00 on a host’s first checkout for your design. Guests a host adds later earn you 40% of that add-on.
  • Earnings are held for 14 days in case of refunds, then paid out monthly through Stripe to your bank account. Stripe verifies your identity and sends the tax forms the IRS requires.
  • If an order is refunded or a design is removed over a valid rights claim, the earnings from affected orders are reversed.

Fair review

  • Every submission is reviewed without your name attached, against the published standards below. There are no contests and no limit on how many designs can be approved.
  • If a design isn’t accepted, you’ll get written feedback and can fix it and resubmit.

Protecting original work

  • Every submission is compared with the designs already in our catalog before it can be approved. Copies of another designer’s work are declined.
  • We keep a dated record of every upload and submission. If two designs are too close, we protect the designer who submitted first, unless the other designer shows they created it earlier.
  • If you believe a design copies yours, report it and we’ll take it down while we look into it. Designers who copy others lose their shop, and earnings from copied designs are reversed.

Rights claims and takedowns

  • If someone reports that a design infringes their rights, we may remove it while we look into it and let you respond. Ribbon & Reply follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act notice process, including counter-notices.
  • Designers who repeatedly upload infringing work will have their shop closed.
  • You agree to cover Ribbon & Reply’s reasonable costs, including legal fees, if a claim arises because a promise above wasn’t true.

Leaving

  • You can close your shop at any time. We can close a shop that breaks this agreement. Earnings you’ve already made are still paid out, except those reversed under the section above.

Review standards

  • Not a copy
Compared with similar designs already in the catalog; not a copy or close imitation of another designer’s work.
  • Original or licensed
Artwork is the designer’s own or licensed for sale; any outside assets are listed.
  • No brands or characters
No trademarks, logos, licensed characters, celebrities or sports teams.
  • Library fonts for editable wording
Editable wording uses the font library; lettering in the art is original or commercially licensed.
  • Print quality
At least 1500 × 2100 pixels (5×7 at 300 dpi), sharp edges, no stray marks.
  • Readable on a phone
Sample wording fits its area and is easy to read on a small screen.
  • Clean sample wording
Spelling and punctuation are correct; it reads like a real invitation.
  • Accurate listing
Title, category and tags describe this design honestly. No brand, character or celebrity names, and no unrelated tags.

All library fonts are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows commercial use and embedding.
